• The previous Finish potentiometer is now called the Focus pot.
  You will understand why when you start experimenting with it while listening to music. Once you find your sweet spot the whole sound stage opens up and previously hidden dynamics and positioning of deep bass will come to life.

• To me, the audio experience is musical NOT clinical. My Neat Acoustics speakers are also designed to sound musical. Valve amplifier enthusiasts, like me,  should be comfortable with the SQ.

• The manual action of the volume pot is smooth with a wide volume spread.
  NOTE: I have found that the remote pot can sometimes get a bit excited if I am adjusting it between Tidal tracks that have extreme level variations. Albums are fine.

• Construction is much simpler than previous kits because there are less connections and the input/output ferules can accept thin wire as well as 16WG 
  
  Soldering points

• 4 X for the 3 way switch

• 3 X for volume potentiometer

• 12 X for Inputs & Output

• 2 X each for the Start and Focus potentiometers. You may need to supply your own. I have used one miniature 20k trim pot and a 20 turn pot from EBay. (See pic)​

Why does StereoCoffee SQ performance keep improving  ?

As a lifelong music enthusiast and DIYer, my goal for over 20 years has been to enjoy recorded music exactly as it was captured — and to share that experience affordably with other DIY audio lovers. This pursuit led to the creation of my StereoCoffee passive LDR attenuator.

Encapsulated LDRs offered a rare chance to pass audio from source to amplifier with no mechanical contacts in the switching or volume stages — removing a common source of signal interference.

Many LDR attenuators have appeared and disappeared, but StereoCoffee has continually evolved through dozens of key refinements and remains strong after two decades.

​

My main focus has been on optimising the power supply to get the best performance from the LDRs, using only two LDRs between each input and output in the signal path.

 

The result is a set of complex, highly tuned power supplies that deliver the ideal balance of clean current and shunt control for a wide range of sources, loads, to reproduce superb 'spacial dynamics' from your system at a LOW COST.

OWNER TIPS: Good quality audio interconnects are recommended for optimum performance. Australian made Aurealis interconnects don't interfere with the signal and are used by several customers because of their high quality and reasonable cost.
